About Matteo de Donà

Matteo De Donà is a doctoral candidate in Environmental Social Science at the School of Global Studies since August 2018. He holds a MA in Culture, Environment and Sustainability from the University of Oslo (2017) and a MA in International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Trieste (2009).

Before joining SGS, Matteo has worked for different international organisations at global and regional levels (UNCCD, OSCE, EU Council) as well as scientific research institutes focusing on environmental and sustainability issues from a global and interdisciplinary perspective (IASS-Potsdam, INRA).

Current research

In his PhD project, Matteo is investigating the role of science-policy platforms in global environmental governance as far as soil and land issues are concerned. In particular, he is conducting a comparative study between the Science-Policy Interface (SPI) of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and the Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils (ITPS) of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
