Global Studies

Global Studies is a field of research and education dealing with global challenges to social, economic and ecological sustainability. It is a multidisciplinary subject, that combines peace and development research, global gender studies, human ecology, human rights studies, regional studies and social anthropology.

For English speaking students we offer a course package combining several key aspects of current and interrelated globalisation processes. The package offers a thorough elaboration of crucial concepts and local as well as global processes that affect the emergence and development of cities in different parts of the world, aiming at analysing the dynamics, and the risks as well as opportunities of global cities.

Forms of teaching

The teaching in Global Studies takes the form of lectures and seminars. In the seminars you will get the opportunity to deepen your understanding and let your views be confronted with the perspectives of other students.

Why study Global Studies?

Global studies is especially suitable for those who aspire to a career in occupational fields dealing with global challenges to social, economic and ecological sustainability. They are also suitable for those who want to add competence relating to globalisation to their education in other fields.
