Engaging Security and Militarism - Global Snapshots

Engaging Security and Militarism - Global Snapshots

We seem to be living in a time of turbulence and uncertainty - a time in which global political ordering seems fragile indeed. It is therefore ever more crucial that we critically examine those concepts and practices that shape today¿s and tomorrow¿s political landscape. By drawing on empirical examples from around the world, this public roundtable reflects upon two such core concepts/practices - militarism and security - in order to explore their meanings, effects, and the boundaries we draw between them. Scholars with expert knowledge about the UK, the DRC, the Sahel, South Asia, Israel, Colombia, and the US, will address the theme of the roundtable in short snapshots of these sites. They will then engage in conversation with each other and the audience about militarism and security, and their interrelations in our emerging world.
