The pace and extent to which human activity is becoming global is increasing as growing numbers of social actors and sites become linked into 'globalized space'.
Global Studies is therefore an important field of knowledge and constitutes a unique environment for research that offers a combination of disciplines, which examine the complexity of globalisation:
The primary objective of the research conducted at the School of Global Studies is to produce results that are of high international standard. The research groups are crucial for achieving this; they both consolidate and complement the various disciplines. The research groups provide a unique forum in which to explore complex research questions by making use of in-depth knowledge from a number of perspectives, research traditions and methodological departure points.
Each research group includes at least two disciplines and consists of both senior researchers and younger researchers (such as doctoral students and posts-doctoral researchers). To ensure that a level of scientific and PhD supervision competence is maintained by the group, they are normally led by Professors or Associate Professors from two different disciplines.
