Kagaba Mediatrice

Kagaba Mediatrice is a lecturer in the Department of Development Studies and a researcher in the Center for Gender Studies at the University of Rwanda. Her area of expertise includes gender, peace, identify, conflict and development. She received her PhD from Gothenburg University, Sweden in 2016.

From September to October 2018, she will be a guest researcher at the School of Global Studies (SGS).

Her current research focuses on understanding the lived experiences on how men and women in rural Rwanda perceive, experience and interpret the country’s gender equality agenda. She is also interested in how men and women try to negotiate gender practices and relationships when such an agenda is implemented locally.

Whilst at SGS, she plans to work on her paper on 'Silence impedes Peace? Violence and Resistance in rural Rwanda', which she will send to the International Feminist Journal of Politics. She also hopes to get some constructive comments and discussions from colleagues at the department.
